A little bit about what is in it!
1. Sweet Almond Oil – for all skin types A neutral fragrant oil light enough to be applied to the whole skin, face and body. It’s filled with vitamin E that’s highly soothing and protective on the skin.
2. Shea butter is a natural fatty oil that is extracted from karite nuts, or African Shea tree. This fragrant extract has been used for a long time to treat skin-related conditions such as eczema, sunburn, shaving rash and blemishes. Since this natural product is said to be highly moisturizing, it is not surprising that shea butter lip balm is a common option for the treatment of dry, cracked, or ageing lips.
Although this product can be used throughout most of the body and in the hair, many find shea butter is a good option for improving lip health. Shea butter lip balm is most widely used to help treat and moisturize sunburned, dry, or cracked lips because it is known not only to possess anti-inflammatory properties but also to be readily absorbed into the skin. While chapped it is also used to heal chapped lips, many believe that it can also help avoid dry lips, as it is said to create a barrier to moisture.
In addition to preventing dryness, Shea butter lip balm may also be useful in protecting the delicate skin of the lips from the sun and damaging free radicals. Depending upon the processing of this oil, the amount of sun protection factor (SPF) can vary; some can reach up to an SPF six. Shea butter is also thought to be plentiful in important antioxidants such as vitamins E and A, which may help protect the lips from the free radical damage that can make them look prematurely aged, thin, or lined.
3. Vitamin E oil – dry skin Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant that can be effective in reducing skin damage from UV. Vitamin E applied topically may help to nourish and protect your skin from damage caused by the elements. Applied topically, vitamin E oil can inhibit free radicals and replenish lipids which help to slow down the ageing process of the skin. The ingredient may also help minimize wrinkles and fine lines and keep the skin looking young.
